Adelaide is a good example of a spirit who refuses to rest.  I think this is her 4th or 5th vessel, and she has been inhabiting vessels for DECADES.  When a vessel gets too old or shattered, she just seeks out another one.  I love her tenacity.  She was like this in life too.  Never give up.  Adelaide is a serious Guardian spirit, and she is also the type of person who can't help but gently correct us as if we were students at her finishing school.  She really can't help it, she was a schoolteacher.  Her job was to "finish" women, and I mean, teach them how to carry on a conversation, how to use proper manners, how to use the right utensils, and ultimately, how to land a husband.  not that these women had much choice in the matter, most marriages in her day were still arranged, depending on the person.  Businessmen and the upper class were still arranging marriages.  Lower classes were not.  But regardless, women of any class had to know how to act in public.  In Adelaide's time, formalities were very important, and not being completely prim and proper would be disrespectful and completely irregular.  She lived in the hustling bustling "modern" city of Saint Louis, Missouri.  She was employed well, which was more than other women could say.  Her peers were often stuck in factories or dying in childbirth.  Neither of those things sounded acceptable to Adelaide.  She was determined to avoid marriage if possible.  She had seen her sister's agony and the sudden death of all 4 of her nieces and nephews. She did not want to die giving birth, and she did not want to lose any babies.  This was a radical and wildly unpopular viewpoint back then. It is not something that could be said in public, for fear of retribution.  Adelaide was courted by some very powerful men, and she was able to repel them by voicing some other wild opinions, like women should be able to vote, and things of that nature.  Men would politely, but quickly, leave her presence.  She loved that.  She often told the busy-bodies that her heart was already given to her students, and that usually worked to get them to stop talking about her.  She was called a "spinster" more times than she could count.  In 1889, Adelaide died of influenza.  It had been a rough year, and many in town died the same way.  For some reason, this was not acceptable to her.  She was in shock, and she visibly haunted the schoolhouse for years afterward.  People would claim to have seen her through the windows.  She refused to leave.  In the 1940s, her schoolhouse burned down and it was never rebuilt.  This is when she began to use vessels. Adelaide likes to chat with us and with other spirits.  She can be rather "uppity" and often snobby, but underneath it all, she has a very good heart.  She would give her life to protect others and would be an excellent "nanny" type of spirit for children, living, or spirited.  She is extremely active and loves to tell us to "sit up" or "smile more" as if we are students in her classroom.  Adelaide can speak directly through very direct telepathy and it can take a person off-guard, so be aware of that.  She can use the pendulum or the Ouija board and has never failed us with any of the tools we have offered her.  She is also very good at giving people random messages and synchronicities in unusual ways.  We love her, and she is amazing with light-up balls and the PSB7.  She needs a good spirit family to join.
