Marianna is an older, Appalachian woman who was "accidentally conjured" by some Mountain Witches in Tennessee. The whole experience has been a strange series of events since the moment this happened. These witches were friends of our friends, the Georgia Coven. They called upon the coven to help them when they realized they had "pulled in a spirit" that was supposed to stay on the land. Marianna did not punish them for this, not exactly, anyway. She tormented their dreams and waking visions for days, showing them exactly why she was meant to stay on that land. After a while, Marianna must've accepted her fate, perhaps the Georgia witches, who are much older and wiser, helped her to understand better. Years went by and we ended up with Marianna. By this time, she was rather enjoying herself as a revered woman in Lisa's personal collection. Marianna was killed in a blood feud among neighbors in the hills of eastern Tennessee. These things were not uncommon back then. I think she died in 1901 or 1902. The neighbors had tried to curse her, but she was a powerful healer-woman. She planted her feet into the ground during a thunderstorm and vowed to stay forever, to curse their bloodline any chance she could. And, according to local legend, she did that until there were no more of them. Marianna is not for the inexperienced. She is a serious hex witch, a very determined blood witch, and her wisdom feels older than the Colonists. She is a
Melungeon woman. The term Melungeon was historically considered an insult, a label applied to Appalachians who were by appearance or reputation of mixed-race ancestry. Her family had "always been there" and they did not keep records of who was whom. She knows her people have all sorts of colors in them, and with that, comes various schools of magick too. You have to pay close attention to what she says to you. She gets mad if you don't. She refuses to go to a house with "no magick", and we do not ever want to make her angry. She is what I would call an advanced spellcaster. It's rare to find a person who knows about earth-craft the way she does. Without books, without being "taught" by a teacher, just what she learned from her own ancestors and her lived experience. She has more knowledge about herbs and tinctures than some of the trained apothecaries we have known. She has a method and it's called "hearing the dirt". She can HEAR how herbs, bark, mushrooms, and other ingredients go together, there is a frequency when it is correct. I have heard this once before but I can't imagine being that tuned into frequency that you can hear when ingredients go together correctly! but she can do it! And she has shown us how it works. Marianna is like a Pioneer woman, but before there were Pioneers. She is rather old-fashioned in how she thinks, and some of the things she says, so be aware of that. She has an aura that surrounds her that is very different from other spirits. It's almost like a shocking current of electricity. I feel like she can transmute energies using this high-power kinetic source energy. She is so very strange and different. She has shown us some of the weirdest spooky folk magick we have ever seen. She talks of the old rituals she and her kind used to do. Things that would disgust a modern woman. Things that feel like they are from a scary movie, but they had their reasons. Like sewing their mouths shut on their dead relatives, so that no evil words could come from their ghosts. It sounds wild and feral to me, but this is just their way. This is the type of stuff she practiced, passed down from woman to woman in her ancestry. Marianna is a very powerful communicator, so good she might scare the pants off you. Her telepathy feels like a spooky scary voice commanding you from behind your brain. It's LOUD and forceful and she isn't a gentle teacher. She is a force to be reckoned with. Marianna is a serious force of magickal mountain energy that is not for everyone. She is old school and I mean before the country was born, old school. She is like a feral witch woman. I think there are a handful of folks out there who would absolutely love her. I truly believe that she will only allow a person to adopt her if she has already ok'd it in her mind. Marianna can use INTENSE telepathy and dreams to really drive home her point. Do not show fear, she won't respect you. She can spend HOURS on the PSB7, and she expects to be taken seriously. She is a good person to have on your side, especially if you have blood enemies. She is loyal to her caregiver and will do whatever it takes to protect that person. She loves cartomancy and other forms of divination. She loves mushrooms, fur, bones, and cool sticks and rocks - just like most of us! Marianna is a serious spell crafter and needs to be in a home with magick.
