Tamar is a sweet girl who has been here for many, many years now. She is an AMAZING historical spirit and MUST be with someone who knows the basics of history, especially after the Civil War - because she lived in that time. It was known as the "reconstruction" and it was a short period of time after the Civil War when things were looking up - despite overwhelming hostility, the standard of living for southern freedmen and women rose steadily in the decades after the war. Acres owned by African Americans tripled in this time, and so did voting, school enrollment, and literacy. But the racists had always been showing their teeth. Even during the good years, people like Tamar and her family were victimized by racists. The era of segregation began around the 1900s. Tamar would've been heartbroken to have lived through that, and she says so. She was raised free and had been told she could be whatever she wanted to be and that she would have opportunities that her mother and grandmother were scared to dream of. And she lived her short life full of hope for the future. Her parents had a small house and they did everything they could in their small town to stay afloat. Her father worked odd carpentry jobs, and her mother made and sold baked goods. They grew their own flour. Tamar says life was really good, and she was full of hope and the promise of a better future. Her father was a carpenter. He was really good at it too. People in town talked about what a good job he did and how inexpensive he was compared to the other (white) carpenter in town. When Tamar was just 11, that jealous white carpenter decided to take out his competition, and he lit their house on fire. Her parents jumped out the window and lived, but Tamar died. The man got away with it. Her parents were left with nothing. Tamar says she stayed, in spirit, with her parents until they died a few years later, victims of even more hate in a different town. Men with white capes burned down the shack they had built and this time both of them died. Tamar has been upset ever since. She realizes that hate is what killed her and her parents. She is intelligent enough to have seen all the ups and down in the past hundred or so years, and she knows it is not enough. She knows she needs to spread her love and hope and try to heal the world. She knows people need to know history so they stop repeating it. She sees the patterns that have been repeating since the Civil War. And all she wants to do is love and heal people with her heart. Tamar is a beacon of good energy. She is a light in a world of darkness. She is an AMAZING historical spirit. She shows us what life was really like. What her home was really like. How people REALLY treated others. She is an important person to know. It's hard to remember that she is still just 11 years old. She feels like she is so much older. She is certainly an old soul. You can feel that Tamar misses her family and her cats and dogs and chickens. I think she would do well with other kids her age, and perhaps other spirits from her time. She is very smart and she seems to know how important she is to learning history. Tamar does really well with every tool we offer her. She can read and write and does well with Ouija and also with automatic writing. I feel like she needs to be in a home with pets because she really loves animals and she misses hers. Tamar needs a good home where she can do what she needs to do to make a difference. OH! I forgot to mention, this one bonds hard with ANY child spirit you put her with, she really loves kids around her own age.
