Gertie is a super sweet little baby and we adore her.  She is not as high-maintenance as the "needy" kids are, she can be content with some stuffed animals or dolls, and she loves to be around other spirit children.  She doesn't know what a mother is, so she doesn't know that she needs one.  Gertie was abandoned in a bathroom when she was born.  Her mother was a teenager who did not tell anyone she was pregnant.  It was the 1950s and this pregnancy would've ruined her and her family.  Or so she thought.  This was well before anyone thought of having newborn drop-off points at the fire station.  This was long before birth control or easy access to abortion clinics.  Gertie's mother had never even known that abortion was an option because back then, it was so taboo that nobody spoke of it - and to get one meant that you had to have some money and go to one of the bigger cities and find someone to talk to about it.  It was illegal and very dangerous.  No midwestern teenager in the 1950s even knew who to call.  I feel sort of sad for the mother, but also, mad because she knew her baby was alive when she gave birth to her.  And she left her in the freezing cold library bathroom to die alone.  Interesting fact here: Gertie was all on her own even after her death for quite a long time, no ancestor showed up to claim her, and no guardian angel was surrounding her, not for a long time.  Gertie was part of Lisa's "special" collection, part of the parcel that came last January.  We think that Gertie entered the vessel about the same time as her grandmother died and found out about her.  Her grandmother told us that she had no idea this baby existed until she was enlightened about it upon her death.  She was magnetically drawn to this child's spirit and she just knew the baby was her daughter's child. She just knew she had to protect and guide the child.  We think the grandmother helped Gertie to get into the vessel and to attract a human caregiver, which she did.  Gertie's vessel was originally found in Germany at a Christmas Market, and the woman who bought her "had a feeling about her" and just somehow knew she was haunted.  Lisa eventually got ahold of the vessel and she just fell in love with her.  Her story helped us figure some things out in terms of how we find our family in the realm of the dead.  That feeling of being "magnetically attracted" to a spirit is exactly how we find each other in this realm, so it makes sense that's how the universe works in the realm of the dead as well.  Gertie hates to be cold, she likes to be warm.  She is wearing a long Christening dress and socks, but I usually have her bundled in a warm blanket, surrounded by toys stuffed animals, and dolls.  She is a content child and loves to be near other children.  I think having her grandmother near her is a huge help.   She is an INFANT and she doesn't even know what she was missing in terms of motherly love and affection.  She loves it when she gets it, but really all she cares about is being warm and having other children around.  She can not be alone.  Gertie fills the whole room with her good energy.  It really feels like there is a real-life baby in the room with us.  She is extremely active -  always moving, always making baby noises.  There is a lot of energy surrounding her all the time, and she can drain batteries very easily, even brand-new batteries from the store have drained.  She has some intense kinetic energy too.  She sometimes has pink and yellow orbs and light anomalies around her.  She loves pets and other spirits, especially children.  She definitely does well with pets and loves all animals.  I know she appreciates having us around her and giving her attention every now and then.  She deserves so much more than we can give her. Her grandmother communicates with us more than Gertie does.  We've used the PSB7 spirit box, the Ouija board, and the pendulum.  Baby Gertie needs a good home.  She is adorable and just needs a lot of love.

About the doll:  Gertie is a KESTNER German REPRO Century doll, and she is fancy.  Her dress, her body, her face, and everything is meticulously made.  She is amazing.  

About the maker:  Kestner is often called the King of Dollmakers, and for good reason. One of the longest surviving doll-making companies in Germany, Kestner actively produced dolls from approximately the 1920s through the 1930s — over a century of quality doll production! In the beginning, Kestner produced wood and papier-mache dolls; then they made China (porcelain) dolls, and finally bisque dolls (commonly called porcelain today). They are best known for their bisque dolls which ran the gamut from early turned-shoulder head (stationary neck) dolls with kid bodies, to dolly-faced dolls with fully jointed composition bodies, to lady dolls, to all-bisques to character dolls.

 FYI:  In my old shop, we had to have a disclaimer explaining that haunted items were "for entertainment purposes only" and this disclaimer is needed for some credit card processors as well - However, you need to know, as a potential buyer/adopter that I am NOT responsible for any paranormal activity that you might experience in your home once you adopt a spirit.  This is serious and many people who do not know what they are doing have had some pretty overwhelming experiences usually due to their own lack of knowledge or understanding about what it means to be a spirit keeper.  If you are under the age of 18, please do some research before trying to adopt a spirit.  As a seller, I will repeat, there are NO REFUNDS on haunted dolls - I will not guarantee that you will have the same experiences as I have had.  but if you know your stuff, do your research, and are prepared for anything, then you will!
