Vintage New Mom? Ningyō Doll ~Hakata Doll Unglazed Hand Painted 11" Figurine ~ Terracotta Statue ~ Japanese Traditional Clay Doll

Hakata Dolls have specialty and uniqueness in their calm aesthetic feeling produced by painting on unglazed figures, delicate carving, and other features. The hand-painted bisque doll has several layers of undercoats of white pigment, made of shells. After the undercoating, a flower pattern was applied to the kimono, then gold and other colors were applied. The finishing touches to the face, only applied by the most experienced artisans, capture the spirit of the doll.  She is delicate and prefers no direct sunlight.  Best handled using a cloth or gloves to keep her in top condition. I study these dolls and have never seen one in this shape, with the protruding belly, mixed with this strange haircut and I really think she is either a pregnant mother or a new mom.

Condition is vintage, pre-owned; she has some scrapes & scratches as shown in the pictures and is missing something she held, but her beauty is eye-catching. Please see the pictures as a part of the description and if you need more information, feel free to contact me.
