Bessie and I did not get along for the first year or 2 that she was here.  I felt her judging stare and I hate that.  I felt like she was sizing me up.  I felt like she was holding me to some impossible standard.  But we eventually became quite close.  Her vessel had been found in Denver and was sent to us by the paranormal investigator who had found her.  He knew right away she was haunted but he said he felt "put off" by her energy.  I can see why.  She is certainly not the type who would take too kindly at being fondled by a strange man.  She likes to be put in a spot in the house and that's HER spot and only SHE can move herself from there.  Oh, and she DOES.  this is why she is all banged up.  See the pic of her feet.  We do not know how or why but she likes to be in our kitchen and we try to keep her upstairs.  I have found her in the kitchen, and halfway to the kitchen.  She just takes herself and puts herself there.  Bessie takes her time getting to know people.  She IS judgy, and she can come off as a bitch, but she's really not.  She is a lot older than anyone here, I think she must be about 78 or 79.  She had 8 children, and then she had 16 grandchildren and a handful of great-grandchildren too.  And she would be the first to tell you that kids today are spoiled beyond repair.  She thinks "kids today are feral" compared to her day and she is not wrong, honestly.  She died in 1935.  Bessie is short for Elizabeth, but never call her that.  She said her mother called her that, "and nobody since".  She comes off as kind of a mean, bitter old lady, but she's really not.  She is just sick of all of our shit.  She really is.  She says she got stuck in the doll vessel because of a curse she placed on her mother as she lay dying.  She would not elaborate, but she did say this is her "penance" for doing that.  She said, "It's better than hell, but not by much".  Her mother was a wicked woman, apparently, and things did not end well between them.  Whatever happened, Bessie REALLY thinks that she is stuck in this doll vessel because of it.  I have offered to try to get her out, but she says no, she thinks she needs to do her time, I guess.  She comes off as a typical old person who is disappointed in today's generation, and that's fair, I guess. She's a fussy old woman who loves her Earl Grey tea, that is the best offering you can give her.  She does like old-fashioned hard strawberry candies too.  I do not think Bessie is capable of adjusting to our modern society.  And that is fine with me, I like her just the way she is.  Interestingly, she is an amazing resource for old folk magick and medicines.  Her mother made all sorts of things, and I wish I knew why they had a falling out. But Bessie has all of those recipes.  She is disgusted by the television and hates that we watch it.  She says it's like having an uninvited guest over every night (when we watch the news).  She is used to having REAL guests with really interesting stories.  Bessie is rather stuck in her era.  I really like her, and I have found that she does well with spirit children, kind of as a nanny or a guardian.  She is very active and doesn't like any offering other than tea or old hard candies.  She has a lot of kinetic energy.  Lightbulbs, footsteps, breathing on people, etc.  She communicates well using the pendulum and spirit box and doesn't mind the Ouija board either.  She would do well in a home where she has children to care for and adults to be friends with.  Treat her like the grandmother she is.

 FYI:  In my old shop, we had to have a disclaimer explaining that haunted items were "for entertainment purposes only" and this disclaimer is needed for some credit card processors as well - However, you need to know, as a potential buyer/adopter that I am NOT responsible for any paranormal activity that you might experience in your home once you adopt a spirit.  This is serious and many people who do not know what they are doing have had some pretty overwhelming experiences usually due to their own lack of knowledge or understanding about what it means to be a spirit keeper.  If you are under the age of 18, please do some research before trying to adopt a spirit.  As a seller, I will repeat, there are NO REFUNDS on haunted dolls - I will not guarantee that you will have the same experiences as I have had.  but if you know your stuff, do your research, and are prepared for anything, then you will!
